George Schopf, age 94, of Hart, passed away Friday, May 1, 2015 at the Oceana County Medical Care Facility in Hart. He was born April 2, 1921 in Cheboygan, Michigan to George and Martha (Negotouk) Schopf. He married Doris Wolf on February 14, 1948 in Muskegon. She preceded him in death. Mr. Schopf was employed by Teledyne Continental Motors for many years before his retirement. He came to Oceana County from Muskegon in 1964. He was a World War II Army veteran. Mr. Schopf was a life member of Hart VFW Post #1329. He is survived by his children, Paula (Rick) Schaner and Darlene (Herman) Jensen; his grandchildren, Kim VanAgtmael, Joy (Greg) Stafford, Jenny Burch, Mary Cater, Rich (Lisa) Cater, Donovan (Jessica) Cater, Don (Amanda) Brown and Denice (Ken) Moran; and many great-grandchildren. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and son, Don Brown, Jr. A graveside service with military honors will be conducted on Saturday, May 9th, 10 am at Mears Cemetery.
