Mary Catherine Bishel was born in Samara, Russia her parents are Johan Gottfried Bishel and Katherine Elizabeth Dauer. Mary was four years old when her family immigrated to the United States. They left Liverpool, England on 14 March 1903 sailing via a ship named Etruria, the family arrived on at the port of New York, NY 22 March 1903. The family went straight away to Fresno, CA.
I cannot find much of Mary's life until she turned 19 years of age. When Mary Catherine was 19, she gave birth to her daughter Lucille Evelyn on 8 March 1918. Later that year she married Joseph Eli DeLuca, age 44, on 20 September 1918 in the town of Fresno, CA. Mary and Joseph went on to have six children together: Irene, William, Josephine, Franklin, Mamie and James. The family continued to live in Fresno County and the city proper until the last child left the house and Joseph moved to the mountains leaving Mary in town on her own, with the help of her children. Mary Catherine Bishel - DeLuca passed away at the age of 75 of cancer. She was survived by all of her children, many grandchildren and great-grandchild.
