A.G. LUKEN FUNERAL SERVICES TO BE HELD SATURDAY MORNING
Funeral services for A. G. Luken. 74 years old, pioneer merchant and pharmacist of Richmond, who died at his home, 114 South Thirteenth street, about midnight Wednesday, will be held at 9 o'clock Saturday morning in St. Andrew's Catholic church. Solemn requiem will be conducted by the pastor. Rev. Monsignor F. A. Roell, and Rev. Clement Zepf, assistant rector, and Rev. Walter Cronin, pastor of St. Mary's church, will officiate. Burial will be made in St. Andrew's cemetery. Friends may call any time Friday evening.

Mr. Luken had been ill only since Monday, and the report of his death came as a surprise to his friends and business acquaintances.

Mr. Luken was one of the oldest business men in Richmond, having been a Main street merchant for the past 52 years. In partnership with his stepfather, Joseph Ramler, he first started into business In 1874. At that, time they purchased what was then known as the C. E. Potts drug store, located near the corner of Seventh and Main streets and adjoining the old First National bank building. Upon the death of Joseph Ramler, his interest in the store was purchased by his son, Edward Ramler, who remained associated with Mr. Luken until 1916.

In 1916 Mr. Luken took over Mr. Ramler's interest, securing the ownership of three store rooms on Main street. The east room was sold In 1921 to the First National bank and Mr. Luken moved his business into the two adjoining rooms to the west. At that time the firm name was changed to the A. G. Luken company, wholesale and retail pharmacy, under which name it is still operating.

Few of Richmond's business men had such an extended acquaintance as Mr. Luken. Th[r]oughout a period of more than 50 years his business activity was without interruption, and the business friendships he made not only in Richmond but throughout Wayne county remained with him always. Possessed of a courteous and affable disposition, his personality was a valued asset of the business which he helped to found and which bore his name.

Mr. Luken came to Richmond in 1871. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1852. and was graduated from St. Xavier college and the Cincinnati college of Pharmacy.

Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Cora Luken; one son. Lawrence Luken. of this city; four daughters, Mrs. Frank McDonald, Mrs. T. C. Harrington and Mrs. John J. Harrington, all of Richmond and Mrs. Frank Taube of Cincinnati; and one brother, Dr. John H. Luken also of Richmond: one half-brother, Ed Ramler; and one half sister, Mrs. Ferdinand Grothaus.
