Elsie Bauermaster, 83, of Martinsburg, W. Va., formerly of Somerset, died April 27, 1989, in City Hospital, Martinsburg. Born April 27, 1906, in Black Township, daughter of the late Samuel and Ida (Kretchman) Bittner. Preceded in death by her first husband, Walter Michael Spangler; second husband, Claude Bauermaster; a son, John William, Spangler; 10 brothers and sisters. Survived by a son, Joe, of Martinsburg, W. Va.; 4 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Janet Bittner of Rockwood. Friends will be received at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Wilbur D. Miller Funeral Home, where a memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m., the Rev. Mark Barwick officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society.
