CASCADE, Iowa - Mary M. Grant, 92, of 401 Third Ave SW, Cascade, died at 3:50 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003, at home, surrounded by her family.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Martin's Cath- olic Church, Cascade, with the Rev. Daniel Krapfl, officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Ceme- tery, Temple Hill. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Cascade, where there will be a wake service at 4:30 p.m.

She was born on Dec. 25, 1910, in Peosta, daughter of Matthew and Agnes (Mahoney) Heitz. She received her education in the Red Brick School No. 8, in rural Peosta.

On Oct. 3, 1933, she married James Grant at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Farley. The couple farmed in the Temple Hill area until their retirement.

Mary wrote the Temple Hill News column for the Cascade Pioneer newspaper for many years. She was a member of St. Matthias Parish in Cascade, Iowa.

Survived are four daughters, Agnes (Donald) Peiffer, of East Troy, Wis., Theresa (Lee) Morrison and Mary Ann (Don) Erschen, both of Dubuque, and Charlene (Mike) Kearney, of Marion, Iowa; a son, Emmett (Dennise) Grant, of Temple Hill; 20 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; a brother, Leo Heitz, of Dubuque; and two sisters, Ann Meyer and Eileen Murphy, both of Dubuque.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Grant, on Dec. 27, 1977; and five brothers.

A Mary M. Grant Memorial Fund has been established.
