Kimmel Rites
Services for Wilmer “Deacon” Kimmel, 62, of Main Street, Lavelle, who died Thursday morning at Pottsville Hospital, will be held at 11 am Monday from the Richard W. Fritz Funeral Home, Ashland. The Rev Rachel Ragieg of Bethel Pentecostal Church, Catawissa, will officiate at the service.
Interment will be in Kimmel’s Cemetery, Barry Township.
Mr. Kimmel was born March 26, 1921, in Good Spring. He was son of the late Rufus and Pearl (Gaskin) Kimmel, and was employed as a miner for the Hegins Mining Co until his retirement in 1966.
Mr. Kimmel was a member of Living Word Tabernacle Church, Hegins, where he served as deacon. He was a member of Tri-Valley Citizens Band Association.
He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Laura Savidge, and two stepbrothers, Daniel and Monroe.
Surviving are his wife, the former Blanche Deeter; two sons, Lamar, of Pitman and Kenneth, at home; three daughters, Carolyn, wife of Bruce Keefer, of Donaldson, Donna Lee, wife of Robert Taylor, of Lavelle, and Karen, of Gordon; a sister, Carol, wife of John Daley, of Philadelphia; two half-brothers: William Richter, of New Jersey, and Harlan Richter, of Port Carbon; step-sister, Marie, wife of Michael Banack, of Philadelphia; five step-brothers, John, of Lavelle; Melvin, of Tower City; Palmer, of Ashland, Guy, of Ashland; and Chester, of New Jersey.
