80, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany, IN.
She was born in New Albany, IN on March 19, 1935 the daughter of James Earl and Mary Barbara Missi Thomas.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband William "Bill" Mersmann.
She is survived by two sons, James "Jim" Mersmann (Patricia) of Corydon, IN and Jeff Mersmann (Rachel) of Bright, IN; daughter, Jan Portman (Rusty) of Georgetown, IN; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, Denis Thomas (Janet) of Elizabeth, IN; and two sisters, Carolyn Carter of New Albany, IN and Phyllis Emerson (Roy) of Georgetown.
Funeral Mass will be held at St Mary's Catholic Church in Lanesville, on Friday, July 31, 2015 at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will begin Thursday, July 30 from 1-8 p.m. and continue Friday from 9 a.m.-noon at Gehlbach and Royse Funeral Home in Corydon. A Rosary Prayer Service will take place Thursday at 7 p.m.
