Smiths Station, AL – CWO2 King William “Bill” Shuff, 99, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2015 at his home in Smiths Station, AL. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm EDT, on Saturday, August 1, 2015, at Vance Memorial Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour before the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at 11:00am EDT. CWO2 Shuff was born January 8, 1916 in Elton, LA, to Don J. Shuff & Norma Delino Shuff. He retired from the US Army in 1960, was a Charter Member of the Fort Jackson Ancient Free Masons Lodge No. 374 founded in 1949, was the first Golf Pro at Lakewood Golf Course when it opened in 1962 & continued to play golf into his late 80’s. In his past time he lived to play golf, farmed, played cards & especially loved spending time with his family. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Ruth Harriet Shuff on January 16, 2010. In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by his brothers & sisters: Oscar Shuff, Lloyd Shuff, Zella Fruge, Clifton Shuff, Ruby Blisky, & Jesse Shuff from Elton, LA. He is survived by 2 daughters Norma Elizabeth Shuff Desilets & husband Thomas of Lake Kiowa, TX, Mary Anne Shuff Hampton & husband Teddy of Smiths Station, AL, and 1 son William Jay Shuff & wife Barbara Cobb Shuff of Smiths Station, AL; 8 grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Kaigler Spano, husband Greg, William Robert Kaigler, wife Karen, Lea Anne Kaigler Daughrity, husband Bob, Michelle Desilets Bronnenberg, husband Jerritt, Thomas Desilets II, wife Esmeralda, all from TX, Carrie Anne Hampton Reid, husband Raymond, from AL, Teddy Douglas Hampton, wife Crystal from SC, & Ashley Hall from AL. Additional survivors include 25 great grandchildren & 3 Great Great Grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to Columbus Hospice.
