Trancito "Toby" Garcia age 87 of Encino, NM passed away Saturday July 25, 2015, at Heartland Continuing Care Center in Portales, NM. Rosary will be held Monday August 10, 2015, at St. Mary's Parish, 376 West 8th St., Vaughn, NM, at 9:00am. Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:00am at St Mary's Parish with Rev. Christopher Dernave officiating. Burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Vaughn. Cremation has taken place.
Toby was born July 2, 1928, to Miguel and Rita (Paiz) Garcia in Derramadero, NM. He married Sue Sheppard in Clovis, NM. He was of the Catholic Faith and worked in farming and mining.
Survivors include his daughter, Mary Jean (Ruben) Ruiz of Las Cruces, NM; two cousins, Frank (Lydia) Garcia and Milo (Vidal) Aragon of Encino, NM; three sisters, Arcelia (Morris) Gutierrez of Clovis, NM, Antonia (Hugh) Peaden of Albuquerque, NM, and Cidia Gomez of Oxnard, CA; seven brothers, Jose Garcia of Portales, NM, Robert (Helen) Garcia of Portales, NM, Augustine (Anna) Garcia of Columbus, GA, Elmer Garcia of Riverside, CA, Gabriel (Cecilia) Garcia of Santa Fe, NM, and Mike (Cecelia) Garcia of Albuquerque, NM; two grandchildren, Tanya (Michael) Baca, and Amanda Lucero; three great-grandchildren, Vanessa, Isaac, and Emily; and extended family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue; two sisters, Julia Ortega and Eloisa Sandoval; brother, Inez Garcia; and step-son, Robert Dehtan.
