Glenn was united in marriage to Helen Van't Hof at the American Lutheran Church in Melvin. The couple were blessed with three children: Greg, Sandra and Barbara. Following their marriage, Glenn worked as a brick layer; then he and Helen began farming northwest of Sanborn for the next 33 years. During that time, Glenn was a dealer for the Archer Oil Company as well as the Wilson Seed Company. He served on the board of directors for the Farmer's Coop Grain and Farmer's Coop Oil Co. Glenn and Helen operated the G&H Chuck-wagon, providing lunch at many auctions around the area. Glenn retired in 1988, and he and Helen moved into Sanborn, IA. They celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary in June of this year. Glenn passed away at his home in Sanborn on July 11, 2013 at the age of 85 years, two months, 17 days.
Glenn was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Sanborn. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed golfing and bowling, or a good game of cards. His greatest delight was time spent with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; son, Greg (SuAnn) Strubbe of Graceville, MN; daughter, Sandra (Lynn) Kleve of Sanborn, IA; 5 grandsons; 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Elsie Kuehl of Sibley, IA; one brother, Elmer Strubbe of Sanborn, IA, other family, and many friends.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Grace Strubbe; sister, Elaine Mikkelson; and daughter, Barbara Strubbe.
Funeral services were held July 13 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Sanborn with Rev. Jesse Burns officiating. Casket bearers were Brian Kleve, Brett Kleve, Stewart Strubbe, Shawn Strubbe, Shane Strubbe and Doug Graves. The congregation sang "Amazing Grace," "How Great Thou Art" and"Rock of Ages." James Clausen served as organist. Burial was at Roseland Cemetery of Sanborn with Sanborn Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
