With her husband by her side, Erika Jutta Kreisel Michel was reunited with her parents and loving Heavenly Father on August 3, 2015.

That morning, it seemed as though the earth cried with us over the loss of our beloved wife, mother, and oma, yet we know it was sunny in the heavens above as they gained one of the most beautiful souls.

Erika, the youngest of six children, was born to Johannes and Martha Kreisel on August 22, 1930 in Hohenstein-Ernstthal, Germany.

She married her sweetheart, Karl Wilhelm Michel, on August 9, 1951. Leaving behind their families and homeland, they moved to The United States in 1958 with the dream of raising a family in a land of religious freedom.

She was known by most as a talented seamstress, the best cook, and to have the most beautiful garden; however, she was much more to us than that. Erika fostered a home of love and harmony, which also became a standard for her children.

She was able to see the best in everything, from turning scraps of fabric into stunning dresses to supporting her children and grandchildren with unconditional love.

Erika was a true example of love, kindness, courage, selflessness, and enduring to the end. She showed us that with God, all things are possible. We are forever grateful for her and the legacy she leaves behind for our family.

Erika is survived by her loving husband, Karl; four children, Uwe (Annette), Ullrich (Carola), Eva (Stuart), and Danny (Patty); twenty-one grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, and her lovable dog, Molly.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Douglas Ward Meetinghouse, 721 South 1200 East. A viewing will be held on Friday, August 7, 2015 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive (1450 East), and prior to the services at the church on Saturday.
