Henry Querl was born April 15, 1842 in Delmenhorst, Oldenburg, Germany, in his native town he was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church and in this communion he remained an ardent and faithful member throughout his entire life. In 1865 he was united in marriage to Miss Elsie Wachendorf, and two years later the young couple emigrated to America. The first located at Homestead and in 1874 they moved to a farm near St John's Church, Iowa twp; after a residence here of several years they moved to a farm near Immanuel's church and four years ago they moved to Williamsburg, where the home was continued in peace, love, and happiness, until interrupted by death. To Mr. and Mrs. Querl were born fourteen children: two died in infancy and the remaining are: Mrs. Ludwig Wallers, Henry Querl, Mrs. Rinehardt Trimpe, Mrs. Gus Kleinmeyer, Frederick Querl, Herman Querl, Mrs. Henry Koehn, Lincoln township, Mrs. George Carnes, Omaha, Mrs. John Malzahan, Appleton, Minn., Ernest Querl, Cedar Rapids, Carl of the home, and Mrs. Emil Spittler, Homestead. Besides these there are twenty five grandchildren and one great grandchild. The deceased was a fine character: strictly honest, loyal and faithful to his home and family and always respectful of the rights of his fellow men. He was a good citizen and in his church affiliations he was a life long member of the Lutheran communion: he was; in turn a member of St. John's, Immanuel's and St. Paul's congregations, and in each there is a lasting memory of his fidelity to his faith. To the bereaved mother and children the community extends it sincerest condolences.
