Born Auguste Henriette Luise Koecher to Johann Christoph Heinrich Koecher and Marie Christiane Johanna Hohl. Her father was a woolen cloth maker in Lobenstein, Thuringia. While her gravestone indicates "Kacker", her birthname was Koecher.

Somewhere in Bavaria/Saxony, she met and married her husband Johann Peter (Peter) Peterreins and remained his wife her entire life. Peter was born in Frankenberg, Uffenheim, Bavaria. He learned the trade of blacksmith from his father.

Shortly after marrying (circa 1848/49), Auguste and Peter came to America, settling first in Pennsylvania. He worked the blacksmith trade for a few year there. In the early 1850's they moved to Minneiska Minnesota where Peter purchased a blacksmith shop. He later became a farmer in Brown and Milford Minnesota and eventually moved to Echo/Posen area.

Auguste gave birth to 9 known children all in Minnesota except one born in Oregon. She died in Oregon, but her body was shipped back to Minnesota for burial. History of MN Valley publication says she had 3 more children, but evidence has not been found for same.

Note: "Bad Lobenstein" is the Find a grave default (I can't amend it), and is the present-day name for the town. When Auguste was born, the town was just "Lobenstein".
