Bernice Lorine Harrison Jones, 89, died Friday, May 2, 2003, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo after a long illness. She was born Oct. 25, 1913, in the Little Rock community of Newton County to the late Martin Vanburen Harrison and Lula Williamson Harrison. She lived in Newton and Greene counties before moving to Tupelo in 1960. She was a retired seamstress for Reed's and Sadler Manufacturing Companies. She was a member of Harrisburg Baptist Church.
Services will be at 4 p.m. today at Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ron Harrison and Dr. Forrest Sheffield officiating. Burial will follow in Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Martin Ezra “M.E.” Jones of Tupelo, whom she married Feb. 1, 1936; a son, Keith Jones and wife, Libby, of Tupelo; two grandsons, Chris Jones and wife, Joyce, and Jason Jones and wife, Sonya, all of Tupelo; six great-grandchildren, Marinda, Jacob, Tyler, Brent, Katharine and Alice; two brothers, Kenneth Harrison of Little Rock and Buford Harrison of Meridian.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Maudie Laird; and a brother, Jack Harrison.
Pallbearers will be her nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be the Twitty Sunday School Class at Harrisburg Baptist Church.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to service time today.
