Anna was the 6th of seven children born to Theodore Sandvigen and his wife Marie (surname unknown), both born in Minnesota. Her grandparents emigrated from Norway.
She studied nursing after high school and later moved to San Antonio, Texas where she met her first husband, Albrecht Carl Galle, while working at Kelly Air Force Field there. They married in 1946 and had two sons, Ross and Albrecht, Jr.. After the war, they moved to Sacramento, California where they lived until Carl died in an auto accident in 1963.
Anna later married Alejandro "Red" Gonzales in 1965 and they had one child, Anna Alex. She was survived by her sons and daughter and grandchildren. She is buried next to Carl in a spousal GALLE grave.
