Karen Haas, 58, of Hopkinton, died Tuesday morning, Nov. 11, 2008, at her mother's home after an extended illness. Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Luke's Catholic Church, Hopkinton, with burial in Hopkinton Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Goettsch Funeral Home, Hopkinton, where a parish Scripture service will be held at 5 p.m.

Surviving are her mother, LaVern; two sisters, Wilma Haas, Hopkinton, and Kathryn Hansen, Monticello; a brother, Kenneth (Linda) Haas, Marion; four nieces and four nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ivan, in 1996.
Karen Ann Haas was born Oct. 8, 1950, at the John McDonald Hospital, Monticello, Iowa. She was the daughter of Ivan and LaVern Melchert Haas. Karen graduated from the Maquoketa Valley Community Schools with the class of 1968. Karen then went to work at Ertl Toys in Dyersville. She was employed there until 1998, when they closed the plant. In April 1999, she started working at Medplast in Monticello, where she was currently employed.
Karen loved to garden, paint crafts and play with her dog, Sparkie.
