Martin Everett was a son of Martin Everett and Mary Ann Morningstar (formerly Morgenstern) of Welland, Ontario Canada. He moved to the USA and married Flora M Peters in Kansas City, Missouri in 1888, then settled in Leavenworth Kansas, where he built a construction firm. Upon his death at age 61, important creditors refused to honor their debts, and the surviving family were ruined, financially.
