Michigan State Trooper Chad H. Wolf, 38 died from injuries he suffered during a traffic crash about 6:30 a.m.

Trooper Wolf was 38. He joined the state police in 2008 after completing the 121st Michigan State Police trooper recruit school in Lansing.

Wolf was riding his marked state police motorcycle in the right lane northbound on Dixie Highway in Springfield Township, located in northern Oakland County. The motorist, traveling in the left lane, abruptly changed lanes in an attempt to access the I-75 north entrance ramp.

Chad was born May 12, 1977 in Geneseo, IL, the son of Lyle K. and Karen C. (Randan) Wolf and graduated from Annawan High School in Annawan, IL. Chad received a bachelor degree from Pensacola Christian College in Pensacola, FL.

He was very involved member of Great Lakes Baptist Church where he served as a youth leader. Before becoming a trooper, he worked with troubled teenagers at Promise Village Home for Children in Davisburg.

He is survived by his wife, Erin; four children, Autumn, Mikah, Korbin, and Koltin; parents, Lyle and Karen Wolf of IL; two brothers, William (Suzanne) Passalaqua of IL and Kent Wolf of NY; sister, Amanda E. Wolf of IL; many nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Helen Blair of Ortonville. He is preceded in death by his father in law, Ray Blair.

Wolf's father is also a state trooper in Illinois.
