Elizabeth Shue, 88 went peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior in the early morning hours of August 27, 2015. After a short illness, she was loved and held by her daughter, Amy during her transition to death just as she loved and held Amy during her transition to life 57 years ago.

Lib is survived by her daughter, Amy Shue Hays, son-in-law David Hays of Cary, NC, grandson, Chandler Hays and his wife, Jana Gorylova Hays also from Cary, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Norman Shue, her parents, Grady and Annie Wilson of High Point and her sister Luria Schulte from Bay St. Louis, MS.

Lib was born in Hazelwood, NC in Haywood County. The mountains held a special place in her heart, as did her extended family and close friends, family by choice.

She enjoyed working and met Norman while working in Greensboro. After moving to Raleigh then Garner after marriage, she continued to have both a family and a career.

After working with the Wake County Extension Service, she transferred to Cooperative Extension Personnel at North Carolina State University and retired as secretary to the Department Head of the Horticultural Science Department at NCSU. One of her greatest life adventures was the retirement gift from her boss and friends, Dr. August and Mary Belle DeHertogh, a trip to Europe; The Netherlands and Belgium.

Lib’s greatest gift was that of unconditional love and acceptance, her joyful view of life and her ready smile. She and Norman’s greatest love was their grandson, Chandler. They had a special bond and enjoyed camping in their motorhome with him. When his family moved to Montana, Lib got a computer for emailing and at the age of 86, when Chandler moved to Japan for a year, Lib bought a tablet and remained connected by Skype. We are all so very grateful she was able to see Chandler marry the love of his life, Jana.

Elizabeth loved her new church family at Woodhaven Baptist church, after moving to Cary with her daughter’s family. The warm welcome she received and the caring of her Sunday school class enhanced her last years greatly.

In honoring her life with us, the family will greet friends and family at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home on Sunday, August 30, 2015 from 6-8pm. Services will be held Monday, 1:00pm, August 31, 2015 at Woodhaven Baptist Church, 4000 Kildaire Farm Road, Apex NC 27539. Internment will immediately follow at Wake Memorial Park Cemetery, 7002 Green Hope School Road, Cary, NC 27519.
