May 25, 1925 - August 29, 2015

EUNICE-It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Mary Nell Miller Fontenot announces her passing on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Acadian Medical Center at the age of 90. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 01, 2015 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Duralde. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Augustine Mausoleum with Father David Hebert Celebrant.

Mary was born on May 25, 1925, second of seven children, to parents, Dominic and Leontine Klumpp Miller of Tee-Mamou. A homemaker and farmers wife, Mary was devoted to her family and her church, Annunciation of The Blessed Virgin Mary in Duralde where she co-leaded the prayer-line. She enjoyed crocheting, reading prayer books, studying genealogy, crossword puzzles, and talking about family connections with anyone who would listen. She was predictable and fair; birthday cards, anniversary gifts, blankets, doilies, and tea sets were distributed with love to all. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend and will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her especially her sons, J.D. Fontenot and wife, Dianna, and Joel Fontenot and wife, Julie, all of Duralde; her siblings, Gertis Bergeaux of Jennings, Lillie LeJeune of Iota, Louella Holmes of Kinder, Lubert Miller of Crowley, and Gibson Miller of Iota; 12 grandchildren, Scotty, Todd, Stephanie, Michael, Dexter Fontenot, Chris Fontenot, Denise Gradney, Candace Granger, Rachel Manuel, Leah Trahan, Kevin Fontenot, and John Eric Fontenot; 33 great grandchildren; and a 1st great-great granddaughter on the way; as well as extended family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Morel "Black" Fontenot; sons, Richard Dean Fontenot and infant James Dewey Fontenot; sister, Clara Miller; and infant great grandson, Chadrick Gradney.
