NOTE: "Kappe" not "Cappe" is the usual spelling of Kappe, Brandenburg, Family tradition states that he was a Bergermeister in Germany/Prussia, and that the family fled their homes and left for the United States. They had political differences with the German Kaiser who was trying to conscript their sons into the German military. Friedrich married Louise Muhme about 1845 in Prussia/Germany. They had 7 children, 2 whose names are unknown:
1. Therese Louise Marie Kohler, born 9 Apr 1846, married Christian Gottfried Wilhelm Neumann (my great-great grandparents)
2. Karl Kohler, born about 1845-1847 married Mathild Zerner (or Matilda). Karl and Matilda had children: Fritz, Otto, Emma, Charles.)
3. Gustav "Gus" Kohler, born about 1849, married Hulda Mueller
4. Robert Kohler, born about 1854 married Bertha Obst.
5. Maria Luise Therese Koehler, born 1859 Prussia, died 6 March 1864 in Nakel, Wirsitz, Prussia (now Poland)
Friedrich was struck and killed by a train in Cleveland and a coroner's inquest record exists with additional details of the accident.
