Norbert E. Beck, 89, resident of 21729 Church St., Venango, PA, since 1947, died suddenly Friday evening, June 30, 2006, at Meadville Medical Center, Meadville, Pa. Born on May 15, 1917, in Cleveland, Ohio, he was a son of the late Frank Beck and Clara Schmidt Beck.

On September 21, 1940, he married Mildred Grace Merritt and she survives. His life occupation was a tool and die maker and he worked for a number of tool companies including the Beck Tool Company in Edinboro, then Diversified Tool Company in Cambridge Springs, and finally at the Beacon Tool Company in Waterford.

He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Cambridge Springs and was a very strong family man. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and gardening.

In addition to his wife, Mildred, of 65 years, he is survived by five sons, Robert Beck and his wife, Sharon, of Venango, James Beck and his wife, Virginia, of Cambridge Springs, Charles Beck and his wife, Janice, of Cambridge Springs, William Beck and his fiancée, Chris, of Conneautville, and Patrick Beck and his wife, Jill, of Cambridge Springs; four daughters, Mildred Frontz and her husband, Leroy, of Cambridge Springs, Linda Hansen and her husband, Raymond, of Saegertown, Janet Mascitti and her husband, Frank, of Meadville, and Diana Beck of Warren, Pa; one brother, Joseph Beck, of Cleveland; five sisters, Florence Becka and Marie Ondo, both of Cleveland, Louise Knoblow of Meadville, Clarice Mahon of Cleveland, and Patricia Ramsey of Wichita, Kan; four sisters-in-law, Hazel Ashman of Meadville, Evelyn Merritt of Venango, Shirley Beck of Saegertown, and Lois Beck of Cleveland; 19 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. Preceding in death was an infant son, Joseph Beck; two brothers, Glenn Beck and Frank Beck; and a sister, Evelyn Beck.
