Shirley Williams Parker

Decatur -- Shirley W. Parker, formerly of Decatur and Huntsville, died on September 11, 2015, in Fairfax, VA.

Funeral service will be today, September 18, 2015, at 3 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home of Decatur with Brent Marshall officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. Interment will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Born November 23, 1932, to Charles Ivy Williams and Helen Head Williams of Decatur, Mrs. Parker was a longtime resident of Decatur and Huntsville before moving to Chattanooga, TN, and then Fairfax, VA. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her son, Stefan Parker. Survivors include her son, Brent Parker of Jacksonville, FL; daughter, Lyn Marshall (Brent) of Fairfax, VA; grandchildren, John and Susannah Marshall of Fairfax, VA; sisters, Nancy Key (Carlton) and Mary Alice Johnson (Bob) of Decatur; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Parker was a graduate of Riverside High School in Decatur and Tennessee Temple Bible College in Chattanooga. She retired from Rohm & Haas Co. in Huntsville and later worked at Highland Park Baptist Church in Chattanooga. After moving to Fairfax to be near family, she worked for the federal government until retirement.

A gifted Bible teacher, one of her greatest joys after being a mother and grandmother was teaching ladies' Sunday school classes for most of her adult life.
