Richard David Vollmar ,83, of Maumee, Ohio passed away September 21, 2015 at the Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo. He was born on December 15, 1931 to David James and Carrie (Ershick) Vollmar in Tontogany, Ohio. On June 23, 1956 he married Rosa-lee (Shufelt) at the Waterville Presbyterian Church. From 1952 to 1954 Richard served in the US Army, stationed in Korea. Richard worked for over 37 years as a glass worker at Libbey Owens Ford, later Pilkinton , until he retired in 1990. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Tontogany, and a Life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Bowling Green. He was an avid hunter and also enjoyed fishing, golfing, bowling and playing poker. Richard always enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by the love of his life of 59 years, Rosa-lee (Rosie) his children Jeffery (Teri) Vollmar of Shelby Twp, Michigan, Jane Herwat of Erie, Michigan, Jennifer (David) Sheidler, of Perrysburg, and Kathy Pullen of Erie, Michigan, his grandchildren Kristy Herwat, Ashley (Joe) Pacynski, Haley Sheidler, Natalie Vollmar, Christopher, Adam and Mandi Pullen, his great grandchildren Collin and Kyle DeVincent and Mackenzie Pacynski, Landon Kronk , Liam, Easton and Colton Pullen, His brothers Lawrence and George Vollmar and his sisters Ilene Jeffers, Betty Box, Shirley Householder, Ruby Ducat, and Rosemary Davis. Last but not least "Romeo" his special four legged friend! He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Wayne, Paul and David Vollmar and his sisters Frances Chancey and Kay Vollmar. Friends and family are invited to call upon Richard's family on Thursday September 24 from 4 to 8 pm at the Peinert Dunn Funeral Home , 7220 Dutch Rd. Waterville, Ohio. Funeral services will be Friday 11 am at the funeral home with Shelly Hutchinson officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Memory Gardens in Waterville, Ohio. A special thank you goes out to the Nursing staff along with Lorie, LPN and Sherry, RN from Northwest Ohio Hospice for the wonderful care that was given. Donations in Richard's memory are encouraged to the Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
