Louis H. Zuehlke, 77, of Grand Island, died Sunday, March 30, 2003 at Rose Lane Home in Loup City, NE. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grand Island with Father Francis Curran officiating. Burial will be at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. on Thursday at Blessed Sacrament with the family receiving friends throughout the afternoon and evening. A Rosary service will be held at
7 p.m. Thursday at the church. Kleine Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Zuehlke was born June 5, 1925 at Palmer NE, to George and Josephine (Mueller) Zuehlke. He graduated from Palmer High School and entered the U.S. Navy in August of 1944 and was honorably discharged in 1946.
Louis married Doris (Anderson) on November 6, 1948. Following his discharge from the Navy, Mr. Zuehlke was employed by Sothman Co., Lacy Construction, Spelts Schultz Lumber, Art Kraft Signs and Wal-Mart. Mr. Zuehlke remained with the Navy Reserves until discharged in 1950.
Survivors include his wife; Doris Zuehlke, four daughters; Diana (Cam) Edwards of Carmel, IN., Carol Dingwerth and Jan Zuehlke, both of Grand Island, and Barbara (David) Nickel of Cairo, NE; four sons; James (Beth) Zuehlke of Snow Camp, N.C., David (Paula) Zuehlke of Grand Island, Steven Zuehlke of Plano, TX, and CWO4 Daniel Zuelhke-U.S. Navy aboard the USS Emory S. Land.
Other survivors include two sisters; Julia Schubert of St. Paul, NE, and Cecelia Zuehlke of Fullerton, NE, one brother; Raymond Zuehlke of Fullerton, NE, 21 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Five sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.
