Adelaide "Addie" Jean (Ginn) Achtmeyer , daughter of Jean Beery Ginn Tilton and Howard Cole Ginn, passed away on September 15, 2010 in Boca Raton, Florida at the age of 87. Addie was born on August 28, 1923 in Columbus, Ohio. She was a member of King Avenue United Methodist Church, attended Grandview Heights High School and was graduated, suma cum laude, from The Ohio State University, where she majored in Psychology. After graduation, Addie attended a year of post-graduate study at Radcliffe College, where she participated in groundbreaking speed-reading research. She was a member of Phi Beta Kappa Society and an active member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. Adelaide worked at the University of California, Los Angeles in many capacities, including Assistant to the Dean of the Dental School. Throughout her life, Addie was an avid reader who enjoyed playing tennis and golf. In retirement, she volunteered at the Public Library in Delray Beach, FL. Her husband, George Achtmeyer, predeceased Addie. She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Mitchell Kopprasch of Huntington, NY and Janet Mitchell of Boulder, CO; and her son through marriage, William Achtmeyer of Boston, MA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Christine Kopprasch, Chelsea Meyers, Carolyn Kopprasch, Robert Achtmeyer, Olivia Achtmeyer, Kristin Achtmeyer, Nell Achtmeyer, William Achtmeyer; and great- grandson, Kevin Achtmeyer . A private family interment will take place at Green Lawn Abbey in Columbus, Ohio at a future date. (published in The Columbus Dispatch, Sept. 24, 2010, page 6B)
