Interment was at the St. Columba cemetery at Iona. Pall bearers were Arnold Henning, Donald Henning, Phil Schoo, Donald Kass, Albert Gaul, John Dondlinger, all nephews.
Mrs. Balster was born May 14, 1889 in Sutterup, Germany, the daughter of Albert and Catherine Schoo. She came to America in 1904, living in Ashton, Iowa for one year and was a resident of Iona for 52 years. She was married to Joseph Charles Balster in Iona on January 10, 1907. She was a member of the St. Columba Catholic Church and of the Christian Mother's Sodality.
Mrs. Balster passed away at her home near Iona on Thursday morning April 14 after having been in ill health for several years.
Surviving are children John of Willmar, Frank, William Aloysius and Lucy at home, Bernard of Iona, Annie (Mrs. Harold Schaffer) of Slayton, Norbert of Ghent, Mary (Mrs. Tom Clark) of Kinbrae and Josephine (Mrs. Wm. Neuheisel) of Adrian. One son Henry died in infancy. Also surviving are sisters, Annie (Mrs. Nick Dondlinger) of Maintowoc, Wisc., Ida (Mrs. John Henning) of Currie, Josephine (Mrs. Ed Kass) of Slayton, Johanna (Mrs. J.S. Kline) of Minneapolis, one brother Frank of Iona and 20 grandchildren.
Preceding their sister in death were a brother Henry Schoo of Iona and Mary (Mrs. Wm. Gaul).
Relatives from a distance attending the funeral services were Mrs. and Mrs. J.S. Kline and Carole of Minneapolis, John Dondlinger of Faribault, Mrs. Walter Reisdorfer of Faribault, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Schoo, Mr. and Mrs. Art Schoo, Mr. and Mrs. Lester LeCalire, Mrs. Jerry Knudson and Ellen all of Ashton, IA., Mr. and Mrs. John Linneman of Bruce, SD, Cleo Henning of Minneapolis. Others from a distance were from wilmont, Currie, Adrian, Rushmore, Hadley, Fulda, Slayton, Worthington, Lamberton, Lake Wilson and Shelbyville, Mich.
