He was born February 25, 1928 in Divernon, Il. son of the late Edward T. and Edna M. Doehring Ladage.
He married Dorothy Clara Kochman on August 1, 1953 in Springfield, Il. and she survives.
Also surviving are four children, Duane Ladage (Terri) of Loami, Il., Daryl Ladage of Chatham, Il., Delores “Lori” Ruyle (Don) of Waverly, Il., and Daniel Ladage (Kelli) of Litchfield Park, Az.; twelve grandchildren, Jennifer Schlau, Laura Halstead, Lisa Offermann, Emily Cully, Clarke Ladage, Bryce Ruyle, Brayden Ruyle, Josalynn Sanchez, Phylisha Ladage, Kelsey Gaines, and Lindsey Gaines; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Lois Tarr of Huntley, Il. and Eunice Dale (Jack) of Bloomington, Il.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Diane Ladage; sisters, Doris Bollman, Virginia Kopplin; and a brother, James in infancy.
Orville attended all 8 years at Victory School located north of Lowder, Il. and was a 1945 graduate of Waverly Township High School. He was a Korean War veteran serving from 1947 to 1951. He farmed for 39 years southeast of Waverly as well as working as a carpenter building homes and general construction. He was a charter member of Christ Lutheran Church in Waverly and held various church offices as well as teaching Sunday school. He was a member and past president of Waverly School Board of Education and represented Waverly on the Board of Control for the Capital Area Vocational Center. He was also past board member of the Farmers Elevator in Lowder, Il. for 31 years. He was currently a member of Waverly Legion Post 262, Waverly Loyal Senior Center, Talkington 4-H Club, and Cass-Morgan Farm Bureau and past member of Sangamon County Farm Bureau. After retirement Orville enjoyed working on crafts in his shop and attending local area craft shows. He loved going to noon meals at the Senior Center and playing dominos with other members.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday (October 13, 2015) at Christ Lutheran Church in Waverly, Il. Burial will be in Camp Butler Cemetery in Springfield, Il. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at the Neece-Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Waverly, Il.
