Marcella was born February 11, 1931 in rural Leigh, Nebraska to Albert and Edna (Sander) Went. She grew up south of Leigh on the family farm. She attended rural school and graduated from Leigh High. She married Edgar Ray Anderson on March 17, 1950 in Columbus, Nebraska. They lived on the family farm north of Monroe in the West Chicago Store area. She and Edgar moved to Columbus in 1982. Along with raising her family and helping on the farm she was active in 4-H and helped baby sit her nieces and nephews.She enjoyed family reunions and gatherings.
