Following his discharge from the military service and return to Pennsylvania, he worked several jobs, including Universal Cyclops Specialty Steel Corp. and as an insurance agent. In 1955, he went to work at Ellis "Carload" Day's, now Day's Home Furnishings, where he remained for the rest of his career. He worked as a salesman and buyer and finally as store manager. On Sept. 2, 1944, he was married in Columbia, Miss., to the former Myrtle "Myrt" Branton, who survives.
