Born on February 11, 1931 at Carroll, Iowa, Norma Jean was the daughter of Ben and Elizabeth (Kohorst) Wernimont. She attended grade school at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School, and later graduated from St. Angela’s Academy.
On May 19, 1951 Jean was united in marriage to Bill Schenkelberg at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. The couple made their home in Carroll.
