Esther Irene (Wehrly) Benzinger, age 89, of St. Louis went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008 at 11 a.m. from the Alma Church of God in Alma with Pastor George Showers and Pastor Steve Wimmer officiating. Interment will be in Chippewa Township Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 8 p.m. with the family present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Berry Funeral Home in Shepherd.
Esther was born in Guide Rock, Nebraska on July 12, 1919, to John Joseph and Bertha Clare (Hiatt) Wehrly.
She married Arthur Christian Benzinger on Aug. 3, 1940 in Mt. Pleasant. He preceded her in death in 2002.
She is survived by her four children: A. David Benzinger of Alma; Judy D. (Ray) Guthro of Auburn Hills; John D. (Chari) Benzinger of Mt. Pleasant; and A. D'Anne (Randy) Smith of Sumner; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Clarice Miller of Colorado and many nieces and nephews.
Esther was preceded in death by her husband and parents; great-grandson Andrew in 2001, and her brother, Lloyd in 1965.
