John S. Matzen, 70, of 814 Nagold st., NW, former employe of R.C. Allen Business Machines, Inc., died of a heart attack Friday afternoon. He was stricken at home and was dead on arrival at St. Mary's hospital.
Mr. Matzen was born in Jamestown, moving to Grand Rapids 47 years ago. He was employed by the Allen company 15 years, retiring in 1952. Previously he worked for the American Can Co. He was a member of St. Mary's church and Holy Name society.
Surviving are his wife, Carrie; a son, Bernard N.; two brothers, Philip and Anthony, and a granddaughter, all of Grand Rapids.
Funeral mass will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday in St. Mary's church, with burial in Mt. Calvary cemetery.

Funeral Mass will be Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock in St. Mary's Church. Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Mr. Matzen reposes at the family home, 814 Nagold St., NW., where the Holy Name Society and friends will recite the Rosary Monday evening at 8 o'clock. Arrangements by Alt.
