Holt — 50th

GREENUP – The Rev. and Mrs. Edwin Holt will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Labor Day, Sept. 6.

An open house is planned from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Greenup Municipal Building next door to the Greenup Post Office.  Friends and family are invited to attend.

Holt and Mary Gilpin were married Sept. 9, 1943, by the Rev. Stanton Lawyer.

They are the parents of Richard of Greenup, Charlotte Green of Casey, Edwin of Chesterville, Mary VanScyoc of Charleston, and John of Antioch.  One daughter, Judy Fullerton, formerly of Danville, is deceased.

The couple has 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The Holts reside at 209 E. Cumberland St., Greenup 62428.

Edwin Holt

GREENUP – Edwin H. Holt, 68, of Greenup died at 6:55 p.m. Sunday (Dec. 26, 1993) at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Bishop Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Greene and the Rev. Francis Ketner officiating.  Burial with military rites will be in the Greenup Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

He was born Feb. 14, 1925, in Greenup, the son of Lewis and Ruth Cox Holt.  He married Mary C. Gilpin in 1943; she survives.

Also surviving are his mother of Sullivan; three sons, Richard H. Holt of Greenup, Edwin L. Holt of Chesterville and John W. Holt of Antioch; two daughters, Mrs. Stan (Charlotte) Green of Casey and Mrs. Leo (Mary Sue) Van Scyoc of Charleston; a brother, David Holt of Bement; a sister, Mrs. Jay (Mary Jane) Brown of Henderson, Colo.; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, a daughter, and a grandson.

Mr. Holt was the pastor of the Church of the Nazarene for 26 years.  He also worked for the old Wabash Railroad for 26 years and Eastern Illinois University.  He was a member of the DAV and VFW in Greenup and was a WWII Coast Guard veteran.
