Michael T. Duva Sr.76,of 322Willow St.,
owner of the Hillside Restaurant, died
Thursday at Waterbury Hospital after a
brief i;;ness. He was the husband of
Nellie (LoRusso) Duva.
Mr. Duva was born Feb 22, 1914,
Cercemaggiore;Campobasso;Italy son of
the Late Elmer and Angela(LaPorta) (Pietro)
Duva. He came to this country and Waterbury
62 years ago. He owned and operated the
Hillside restaurant for the past 30 years.
He had formerly operated the Blue Bell
Restaurant on South Main Street and the
Sorrento Restaurant in Hollywood; Fla., both
from 1958 to 1967. He was member of the
Knights of Columbus, the Veterans of Foreign
Wars, the DAV and a former member of the
Elks Club. He was a World War II Army
veteran, having served as a sergeant in the
medical corps in Germany. He was a
communicant of St. Margarets Church.
Besides his wife, he leaves one son,
Michael T, Duva Jr. of Waterbury; one
daughter, Miss. Agnes Duva, of Massachusetts,
two sisters Mrs.Mary Touma and Mrs. Anthony
(Ellen) Bocchichio both of Waterbury; two
stepsisters, Mrs. Angela Blanchard and
Mrs. Jonn (Mamie) DeVito,both of Waterbury,
and several neices and nephews.
The funeral will be held Saturday at
8 am from the Maiorano Funeral Home,
95 Willow st., to St. Margarets Church
for a,Mass at 8:45. Burial will be in Calvary
Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home
today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.
