The birth of Christian Stotz is recorded in the church records of Glueckstal, a German colony northwest of Odessa in what is now Transnistria Territory. The date given is 28 Nov. 1885. His parents had married on 5 February 1885. Christian mistakenly entered the year 1884 in his WWI registration, but gave the correct date in his WWII registration. Christian was the eldest child and emigrated with his parents, arriving in March, 1889.
