Edna, 94, widow of John Raymond Gray; was the last of ten children born to James O. Casey and Cora Lee Spencer Casey of Buxton (lighthouse keepers). She is survived by a daughter, Sybil Gray McDaniel and her husband Lawrence Sherman McDaniel, Sr. of Norfolk; five grandchildren: L. Sherman McDaniel, Jr. and wife Deanna of Buxton; James "Buddy" McDaniel and wife Heather of Buxton, Edna Nelson and her husband Lt. Col. James L. Nelson Jr. of Fredericksburg, VA, Darlene O'Neal and her husband Morris O'Neal of Norfolk and Cynthia Gerard of Buxton; eight GGchildren: Charlene and Jason Gilbert, Rachael and Mary Joy McDaniel, Joey, Erin and Jimmy Nelson and his wife Tina, and Brittany Rose O'Neal.

NORFOLK - Edna Casey Gray, 94, died Feb. 27, 2002. Born in Buxton, NC, Feb. 21, 1908, she was the widow of John Raymond Gray. She was the last of ten children of the late James O. Casey and Cora Lee Spencer Casey of Buxton.

She loved to reminisce about her days as a light always with a humorous story to share, she was dearly loved and will be remembered and missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by a daughter, Sybil G. McDaniel and husband Lawrence S. McDaniel Sr. of Norfolk; five grandchildren, L. Sherman McDaniel, Jr. and wife Deanna of Buxton, NC, James "Buddy" McDaniel and wife Heather of Buxton, Edna Nelson and husband Lt. Col. James L. Nelson Jr. of Fredericksburg, VA, Darlene O'Neal and husband Morris O'Neal of Norfolk and Cynthia Gerard of Buxton; eight great-grandchildren, Charlene and Jason Gilbert, Joey Nelson, Rachael McDaniel, Mary Joy McDaniel, Brittany Rose O'Neal, Jimmy Nelson and wife Tina, and Erin Nelson. Also many nieces and nephews, among whom are Loretta O'Neal of Buxton and her brother, Gordon Midgett of New Jersey, but formerly of Buxton.

A funeral will be Saturday at Buxton Methodist Church by the Rev. Holt Clarke. The family will receive friends at the McDaniel's home, Highway 12, Frisco, NC.

----Edna Gray is buried in the Scarborough Cemetery in Buxton. Located on Ethan's Way.
