Fred W. Stover Dies At 93 years
Fred W. Stover died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 1985 at West point. He had attained the age of 93 years, 8 months, and 2 days. Fred was born Jan. 30, 1892 to John Henry Stover and Johanna Maas, in rural Scribner. He was a lifetime resident of the community. He retired from farming in 1946 and contined to live on the farm until 1949. In 1950 he moved into town, and in 1978 he became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center. He was baptized June 12, 1892 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, and was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church, Cuming Co. Line, on Mar. 29, 1907. He attended Dist. 83 school. Mr. Stover gave substantial donations to St. Frances Memorial Hospital in West Pont, the Good Samaritan Center, the Scribner Fire Dept. and Rescue Squad, the Scribner Library, St. John's Lutheran Church, Cuming Co. line, and United Lutheran Church of Scribner.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, John and Henry; and 3 sisters, Annie, Bertha and Rickie. He is survived by cousins.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 5, at 10 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Cuming Co. Line. with Pastors Wendy Buckley and Tim Madsen officiating. Evelyn Von Seggern was organst. Musical selections were "O Happy Day When We Shall Stand", "The King of Love My Shepherd Is", O Love That Will Not Let Me Go", and "In Heaven Avove". Casket bearers were Duan Von Seggern, Martin Koopman, Clintn Grunke Clinton Von Seggern, Helmut Martin, and Emil Meyer. Honorary casket bearers were the Scribner Firemen and Rescue Squad. Burial was in St. John's Cemetery with arrangements by the Spear- Johnson Funeral Home. Memorials may be sent to St. John's Lutheran Church or the Good Samaritan Center.hhw
