Another humble member of the Greatest Generation, Lafe was born in 1926 to Jacob and Lillian Harris.
He spent most of his younger days in Quincy, California, until, shortly after Pearl Harbor, when he joined the Marines to serve his country in WWII.
Lafe served honorably and then after the war continued his public service as a career civil servant with Cal-Trans, taking great pride in supervising the maintenance of our state's highways.
He married his first wife Clara, who pre-deceased him, and is survived by their five children, Carol Schinbine, Joyce Endicott, Elaine Naveck, Judy Bubb-Harris, Jim Harris, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Lafe met his current wife, Aurora Miles Harris, dancing, a past time that they thoroughly enjoyed together, along with travelling.
Services will be at Mt. Vernon Mortuary, 8201 Greenback Ln, Fair Oaks, on December 29, at noon, with a gravesite burial to immediately follow at Sylvan Cemetery, 7401 Auburn Blvd, Citrus Heights.
