Mabel Hermine Katherine Wobken was born on March 22, 1918 to Johann Frederick and Helene Marie (Oldigs) Wobken in Dodge County. She grew up on the family farm near Scribner and attended District 83 country school in Dodge County. In 1950, Mabel moved to West Point with her parents where she worked at the nursing home as a housekeeper. She also did cleaned privately for area homes and businesses. Mabel used her compassionate nature throughout her life as she was a hospital volunteer and cared for her aging mother. One of Mabel’s many life achievements was donating twenty gallons of blood through the Red Cross.
Mabel was baptized, confirmed, and a lifetime member at St. John’s Lutheran Church on the Cuming County Line as well as their ladies guild. When she wasn’t volunteering, she enjoyed gardening and cutting fresh flowers.
Mabel is survived by her sister-in-law Dorothy Clausen of Fremont and nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings George, Henry, Herman, Walter, Marie Weitzenkamp, Elmer, Ella VonSeggern, and Irvin."
