John B. Steinmetz, 99, passed away Sunday, December 27, 2015. He was the last of 8 brothers and sisters.

John was born in Louisville on November 20, 1916. He served our country during WWII while enlisted in the Army Air Corps, retired from TARC after 33 years, and was a member of St. Bartholomew Church for 65 years.

He is now reunited with his wife, Elizabeth “Libby”, who passed away in 2005.

John is survived by 4 children, John R. Steinmetz (Laurie), Edwin J. Steinmetz (Mayme), Melvin C. Steinmetz (Mary Jean) and Carol Ann Brown. He was loved by 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and as “Uncle Johnny” by over 35 nieces and nephews.

“He was a good and faithful man”

A funeral mass will be held at noon Thursday, December 31, 2015 at St. Bartholomew Church, 2042 Buechel Bank Road, with entombment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4-8pm Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Ratterman and Sons, 3800 Bardstown Road.
