Danvers – Deloris A. Meiss, 71, of Danvers, passed away at 4:40 pm, Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at her residence in Danvers.

Her funeral service will be held at 10:00am, Monday, January 4, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Fairbury with Pastor Daryl Evans officiating. Burial will follow the service in Chenoa twp. Cemetery, Chenoa, IL.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 6pm, Sunday, January 3, 2016 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury and one hour prior to her service at the church on Monday. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be directed to First Baptist Church of Fairbury.

Deloris was born October 25, 1944 in McLeansboro, the daughter of Harley R. and Wilma (Hutchcraft) Martin. She married Richard Dean Meiss on January 12, 1962. They later divorced.

Survivors include three sons, Robert (Mary Miller) Meiss of Rantoul; Randall (Michelle) Meiss of Chenoa; Chris (Rita) Meiss of Fairbury; eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, four sisters, Norma (Franklin) Fosdick of Fairbury, IL; Mary (Bill) Decker of Grand Rivers, KY; Connie Aberle of Benton, KY; LaVerne (Mark) Aberle of Chatsworth, IL; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Harold Martin; one sister, Geraldine Wiles; and one son, Ralph Meiss.

Deloris loved people and didn’t know too many strangers. She enjoyed bowling and loved going to work. Her ability to share her thoughts and feelings and her no nonsense approach will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
