Leona Mae Tucker passed away peacefully January 29, 2024, in Fort Stockton, Texas.

Visitation for Leona Tucker will be held Wednesday, January 31, 2024, from 10am to 8pm at Heritage Funeral Home of the Big Bend, 301 N. Main St., Fort Stockton, Texas.

Funeral Service will be held Thursday, February 1, 2024, starting at 11am at Heritage Funeral home of the Big Bend. Arrangements are under the direction of Heritage Funeral Home of the Big Bend.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 A.M, Friday, February 2, 2024 at Blackwell Cemetery with Pastor Keith Hills officiating. Local arrangements by Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Leona Mae (Backhaus) Tucker was born on October 6, 1935, in Roscoe, to Bill & Norma Backhaus. She married R. H. Tucker in Sweetwater on January 9, 1958.

She worked her biggest job as a homemaker and mother and was very proud of faithfully handling the Secretary/ Treasurer duties of Faith Lutheran Church for over 50 years where she was a member. She worked over the years for a few different businesses in Ft. Stockton taking care of receptionist/ bookkeeping duties and doing whatever she could to help anyone out.

She enjoyed her time serving as a member on the Ft. Stockton Ministerial Alliance Board and was a member of The Women's Auxiliary at Pecos County Memorial Hospital. Throughout all her jobs and volunteer work, she made so many life-long friends that she truly cherished.

She is survived by children, Melinda and husband Maelo Olivas, Rhonda, and husband George Luera of Ft. Stockton; her son Rodney and wife Staci of San Angelo; her grandchildren, Malia Granado, Justin Brians, Jaren Brians of Ft. Stockton, Blair Tucker of San Angelo, and 6 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 55 years, Roy Howard Tucker (2013), and sister Marie Mitchell.

Many thanks to the staff at Focus Care Nursing Center where she resided for the past 3 years. She enjoyed being there and was always thankful for her nurses and the friends she made there.
