Mrs Bessie M Obert, 89, of Obert Road, Spartansburg RD 2, died at Corry Memorial Hospital, Friday afternoon, Aug 7, 1992. She was born on Feb 4, 1903, in Erie County, a daughter of Byron and Lillian Moore Satterlee. Mrs Obert was raised and educated in the McKean area. Following her marriage, she moved to Spartansburg and resided there for the rest of her life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Spartansburg and was a former member of the Hatchtown Community Church. She had been the church pianist in Hatchtown and Spartansburg for over 60 years. She had also been a member of the Friendly Neighbors Club. She enjoyed her family, friends, sewing and flower gardening. She is survived by two daughters, one son, two sisters, one brother, 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L Obert, on Dec 11, 1983 - they were married in Erie on Sept 1, 1925; also by a son, Charles D Obert in 1936; two sisters, Mabel Zimmer and Myrtle Satterlee; and a granddaughter, Joan Kolaja.
