NEW ULM REVIEW January 12, 1910

Fritz Landwehr, 58, a former New Ulm citizen and well known in this vicinity died last Thursday, Jan. 6th, on the town of Somo, Lincoln Co., Wis., death following an appoplectic stroke while out in the woods with his sons cutting wood.

Mr. Landwehr was born Dec. 23, 1851 in St. Louis, Mo and for some time lived on a farm in New Haven, the same state. Owing to the fact that the climatic conditions in that part of the country were not favorable to his health, he decided to remove to the north, locating in New Ulm in 1880.

He was married on Dec. 20, 1881 to Eugenia Stamm, who died a few years later. He entered into a second marriage Jan. 9, 1888 with Miss Mary Karl. The wife and two children, one from the first and one from the second wife, survive him.

From New Ulm he went to Mankato and conducted a sawmill with Mr. Palmer as his partner, removing from there to Glencoe and back again to New Ulm. He remained here until 1896 when he moved with his family to the northern part of Wisconsin, locating in the town of Somo, Lincoln Co.

Deceased was a hard working and industrious man, well liked by all his neighbors who had the utmost confidence in his integrity and uprightness. He was closely affiliated with the government of his home town being entrusted with various responsible positions of trust.

He was a member of local Harmony Lodge of Modern Woodmen under whose auspices the funeral was held Tuesday afternoon.
