Obituary:
Mrs. Katherine Goos. The death of Mrs. Katherine Goos, who died Feb 20, at the home of her son, August Goos, of Monroe township, was very sudden. She was an aged lady, being 70 years old, but had always enjoyed good health. Sunday night she retired at 7:30 o'clock, in apparent good health and spirits. Half an hour later, when Miss Lizzie Wilker retired in the same room, she was sleeping quietly. However, when called for breakfast the next morning, no response was received, and the family becoming alarmed, hastened to her bed. She was found dead, life having been extinct for several hours. Death had evidently come quietly. The family thought best to send for Coroner W. P. Smith of this place. He, upon hearing the particulars, thought it unnecessary to hold an inquest, as death had plainly been the result of heart disease. Deceased was born in Prussia in 1828, and came to America in 1857. She had resided in this county a number of years and was the widow of Barney Goos, who died about 5 years ago. Besides Fred Goos, who lives in the Troy vicinity, she leaves three other sons and two daughters, all residents of this county. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock by Rev. David Kurz at the Lutheran church in that vicinity. The remains were interred in the church cemetery.
