John Ferrier Turing was the elder brother of the mathematician and computer scientist Alan Turing. The first son of Julius Mathison and Sara Turing, he was born in 1908 on his grandparent’s estate in Coonoor, India. After moving to the U.K., John became a solicitor in London, where he often visited with his brother.
