"Lorraine S. Moritz, 91 years, of Fremont, NE died Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at Premier Estates in Fremont. Lorraine was born November 6, 1924 in Pender, NE to William and Anna (Jahde) Lueders.
She grew up in Pender and was a 1942 graduate of Pender High School. She graduated from a commercial extension college in Omaha in 1943. Lorraine married Louis R. Moritz on November 25, 1951 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Pender. He died April 23, 2010.
Lorraine worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for several years, then was employed by the Thurston County Treasurers Office for 5 years while living in Pender. Lorraine and her husband farmed in Stanton and Wayne Counties until 1963, when they moved to Hoskins, NE. She worked for Sherwood Medical in Norfolk, NE until moving to West Point, NE in 1972. She then worked as a custodian for St. Paul's Lutheran Church in West Point for eighteen plus years, until 1994. She moved to Fremont in 1995.
Lorraine was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fremont and a former member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid in West Point. She enjoyed playing Bridge, Pitch, and Square Dancing. She volunteered with Care Corps in Fremont. Lorraine loved her children, babysitting her grandchildren, cooking, baking and collecting cook books.
She is survived by her son, Douglas and wife, Connie Moritz of West Point, NE; daughters, Cynthia and husband, Gerry Hurlbert of Carroll, NE and Jodi and husband, Steven Schlieker of Fremont; 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Geraldine Stewart and Dorothy Siebrandt; and brothers, Robert and Marvin Lueders.
Funeral service will be 10:30 A.M., Friday, January 29, 2016 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fremont. Visitation on Thursday from 4 PM to 8 PM with family receiving friends from 5:30 PM to 8 PM at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont and visitation will continue one hour prior to service at the church. Burial will be at 2:00 PM at Stanton Cemetery, Stanton, Nebraska.
