Mary was a 1947 graduate of St. Marys High School and she retired as secretary from Williamstown High School in 1989. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Williamstown, WV.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Erwin Goertler; daughter, Diane Kiger (Doug); son, Glen Goertler (Donna); five grandchildren, Megan Watts (Geoff) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Molly and Matthew Kiger, Michael Goertler (Bridget) and Mitchell Goertler all of Williamstown; sister, Sara Bogard of York, ME, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Douglass; brother, John E. Smittle and daughter-in-law, Rebecca Hawver Goertler.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 1, 2016 at Hadley Funeral Home Reno Chapel, 1021 Pike St., Marietta with Rev. Elizabeth Campbell-Maleke officiating. Burial to follow in Riverview Cemetery.
