She is survived by her sister, Joy Hicks of Rossmoor; three sons, Robert, Scott and Stuart; daughter, Ann (Schultz); seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She spent her childhood in Berkeley and Napa. Her mother’s family, the Gardners, are one of the historic families of Napa and California, owning stables and driving the Stagecoach line from Napa to the town of Monticello. Doris’s father was born in Australia and moved to California in the early 1900’s.
She married Robert Humpert in 1945 and shortly after started a family. Robert, being a pilot in the Army Air Force, took Doris and family to live in Madera, California, Austin Texas, and Salt Lake City, Utah.
